Good morning. What you are currently watching are the images of the ending attached to the animated serial that goes by the title of [C]. It was named “Conviction" (確信), from the fact that all the subtitles given to each episode all begin with the letter C.
By the way, most of the important parts of these images were made with a software named After Effects from Adobe. It’s a wonderful software, so you all should try to use it. And then let’s make some nice images. When they’re ready, definitely show them to me, please. I take great pleasure in viewing interesting and creativity-filled images.

ひみつ豆知識：このドラマは企画段階のオリジナルタイトルを「CONTROL」といいました。しかし、同時期に放送される同様のタイトルを持つ他番組の存在が発覚したため、「CONTROL」から頭文字だけをとって「C」と名付けられました。「C」には様々な意味が込められています。ミニマルで覚えやすく、そして意味深で、とても素敵な題名だとわたくしは思います。本編のアニメーションは、竜の子プロダクションという会社の人たちがつくっています。いわゆるひとつのチャイルド・オブ・ドラゴンですね。かぁっこイイー！つまり最高にカッコいい人たちが絵を描いたり塗ったり撮影や演出や制作をしているわけですね。超スゲーです。まじリスペクトです。
A bit of hidden trivia: During the planning stages this drama was called “CONTROL”. When we realized that a different program with the same title would be airing at the same time, we took only the first letter from CONTROL and named it that. There’s a lot of significance to the name “C”. To begin with, its short and easy to remember, and on top of that deep with meaning, a wonderful title if I may say so myself. The animation of the main story is by Tatsunoko (竜の子). A so called child(子) of the dragon(竜). Sooooo cool. So basically super cool people are drawing and painting, and doing the photography and production. Super awesome. All my respect.

I love people like you that are filled with curiosity. There may be times in day to day life when this curiosity will be shunned or persecuted. But you must not be discouraged. 1話放送時、このQRコード上に文字テロップがモロに乗っかっており大層ビビりましたが、それでもなんとかスキャン出来る事実が散見されたことは、わたくしに安堵をもたらしました。QRコードのエラー訂正能力は驚異的ですね。なお、このQRコードを利用した文言は今回（2話）でもって早くも終焉を迎える気配が致します。2話においてはエンディング映像に修正が入ったため、このように違う文章を用意できましたが、次回以降はそうもいかないでしょう。各話でいちいち別の文章を用意することは、編集の方に余計な仕事を強いる原因にもなります。さみしいですがさようなら。あなたとこうしてやりとりできて楽しかったです。またどこかでお会いできることを楽しみにしています。お元気で！
When the first episode aired and I saw that the letters for the names were on top of the QR codes I was pretty nervous, but eventually the fact that you could actually scan then started spreading and I was relieved. The QR code’s ability to correct mistakes really is wonderful. However, it seems the messages on these QR codes are already ending this time (episode 2). I am only capable to prepare a different message like this because there were corrections to the opening for this episode, but from now on it may not be possible. Changing the message for each episode will be forcing unnecessary work on the editors. It’s unfortunate but goodbye. It was fun talking to you like this. I hope we can meet again. Take care!

ひみつ豆知識：いまあなたがご覧になっているエンディング映像（「Conviction」＝確信、と名付けられています）は、はじめ29.97フレーム/秒で作成されていました。後に本編映像との整合性を取るため24フレーム/秒で作り直されています。そして放送では、これを再度29.97フレーム/秒へ変換して送出しています。複雑ですね。また、映像の輝度（明るさ）も放送基準に合わせて調整されています。本来はより輝度の高い（＝明るい）映像であったのですが、不特定多数の方が視聴する可能性をはらんだ放送というメディアにおいては、オリジナル版の明るさは許されていないのです。ちょっぴり悲しいですが、皆さんの健康への配慮と思われます。とっても気が利いていますね。
Secret trivia: The ending images you’re viewing right now (called “Conviction”=( 確信) ) was originally made in 29.9 frames per second. It was later remade into 24 frames per second to match the images from the main portion of the anime. We later converted it back to 29.9 frames per second for the airing. Complicated, huh? The brightness was also adjusted to airing standards. It was originally brighter, but since this is a medium many different types of people might watch, the original level of clarity was not allowed. It’s a bit sad, but think of it as concern for the viewers health. Very thoughtful, huh?

こんばんは。2話の当欄で「卑疑好奇心」についてお話ししましたが、これについて定義があいまいであるとの声or念がありました。文章中「解明するのに迷惑がかかる好奇心」という箇所についてです。「迷惑がかかる」とはいったいどのような状態のことなのか、その定義を明確に規定せぬまま文言にしておりました。この点についてわたくしは、声or念を全面的に支持いたします。声or念に感謝しています。それにしても定義とはじつにうつくしいものです。たとえば現在＝これが放映されている「5月」の定義は、「太陽暦で4月と6月の間にある年初から5番目の月、二十四節気の旧暦では概ね 第9番目の芒種から第11番目の小暑までと重なる期間」となります。大変うつくしい物言いですね。
Good evening. On the message in episode 2 , I spoke about “fake curiosity”, but I heard opinions and thoughts that the definition for it was too vague. It’s about the passage in the middle that says ” …the curiosity to pry into other people's secrets or love life and cause them trouble…” It seems as if I wrote without setting the standards for “causing people trouble”. On this matter, I fully support expression of opinions of any kind. In fact, I’m thankful for them. But even so, aren’t definitions wonderful things. For instance, the definition for “may”, the period in which this ending sequence is airing is: The fifth month of the year set between april and june on the solar calendar, and set mostly in the period between the ninth boushu and the eleventh shousho in the old lunisolar calendar. Just rolls of your tongue.

ひみつ豆知識：2011年4月より開始された連続TVアニメーション「C」のロゴ図案には、そのドットの中にCで始まる数種の単語が埋め込まれています。Webサイト等で確認して色々想像してみましょう（大きめの画像でないと目視できないかもしれません）。また、四角に囲われた2つの「N」と 1つの「T」も確認できるはずです。これは、はじめ雰囲気で加えたられたものでしたが後にふと思いついたため、それぞれ「ノイタミナ」「中村」「高木」の頭文字である、ということにしました。後付けです。しかしそう考えるとmebaeさんの頭文字が入っていませんね。申し訳ございませんでした。陳謝いたします。今後機会を見て「M」の文字に差し替えられればと目論んでいるのであります。
A bit of secret trivia: In the logo of the serial animation [C] that started airing in april, there are several word beginning with the letter “C” hidden in the dots. Look it up in the web site and think about them for a bit (if the image isn’t quite large you might not be able to see it. Also, you should be able to see two “N’s” and one “T” inside the larger squares. At first I just added them to complete the feel of the image, but after thinking about it I put the first letters for Noitamina, Nakamura and Takagi inside them. It was a last minute addition. But thinking about it I forgot to include the first letter for Mabae. I apologize. My mistake. I’m planning to switch in an “M” when the opportunity shows it self.

こんばんは。お元気でしたか？いまあなたがご覧になっている、連続TVアニメーション「C」のエンディング映像には 主に3つの色が意識的に多用されています。3つの色はシアン(水色)・マゼンタ(紫がかった赤)・イエロー(黄色)であり、これらはそれぞれ本編に登場する 公麿・真朱・金融街 を端的に表す色として選択されました。着ている服の色や、全体の視覚的な印象から得られたものです。シアン＝公麿、マゼンタ＝真朱、イエロー＝金融街というわけですね。それに相当するものを厳密に配置しているわけではありませんが、ですのでたとえば空中を飛んでいく四角はシアンの尾を引くべきであったし、その到達点である四角はマゼンタでなければなりませんでした。
Good evening. Are you feeling well? As you can see right now, the ending theme of TV series [C] mostly uses three colors, and does that on purpose. These three colors are cyan, magenta and yellow, and these colors were chosen to represent Kimimaro, Mashu and the Financial District, respectively. They were deduced by the color of worn clothes and overall visual impression. Basically, cyan = Kimimaro, magenta = Mashu, and yellow = the Financial District. While I'm not making a strict distribution of things corresponding to these colors, for example, if the color on the trail of the square flying through space is cyan, the color of the square where it arrives has to be magenta.

Moreover, cyan, magenta and yellow become black if you mix them together. This is, in a word, the future. The future, a mental phenomenon that cannot be observed, stays covered in darkness to us who can only live in the present (This is why the words about "bright future" have such a great impact. Because the future is usually dark, and one is relieved when there is hope about it). However, as the future is always the result of your own actions, like when cyan=Kimimaro, cyan=Mashu and yellow=District are mixed together, everyone should not hesitate and mix other colors together. I believe that shedding light on the threatening future is essential.

こんばんは。じょじょに初夏めく今日このごろ 皆様いかがお過ごしでしょう（そうです「C」第6話の初放送は5月頃だったのです）。ひみ豆：いまあなたがご覧になっている連続TVアニメーション「C」のエンディング映像に出てくる図形や画面切り替えなどは、School Food Punishmentさんの楽曲「RPG」の音のタイミングにできるだけ沿うよう調整されています。空中に現れる四角形は鍵盤楽器に、ときおり雨のように降る長方形は弦楽器に、また中盤に出てくる4つの円形とそれをつなぐ長方形で構成された図案は歌唱の音節に、といった具合です。まだあるかも知れませんのでお時間のある時に発見してみてください。発見したらわたくしにも教えて下さい。楽しみにしております。
Good evening. Now that the days are starting to feel more and more like summer, how are you all getting along (yes, the 6th episode of [C] aired in may)? Secret trivia: The images and transfers you are currently seeing in the ending of the serial TV animation [C] were made as to match the timing of the song “RPG” by School Food Punishment as much as possible. The square flying though space represents the keyboards, the occasional rain of rectangles are the stringed instruments, and the circles connected by rectangles match the syllables of the singing part, and so on. There are still more, so if you have time, try to spot them. If you do, show then to me, too. I’ll be eagerly waiting.

ロゴ図案中にあるthe money of soul and possibilityという言葉は、企画書に書かれていたものを図案中にしたためたものです。この言葉を記載するよう特に注文されたわけではなく、図案を作成する段階で独自に挿入したものです。ゆえこの言葉の真意は存じておりません。おりませんけれども、なにかこう言葉から発せられる香り 光彩 引力のようなものに惹かれたのは確かです。原語によるニュアンスは計りかねますが、Cという企画に込められた気持ちというか志というかもっといえば魂のようなものが（実際に「soul」という単語も用いられています）垣間見えるという点において、この言葉はCにとって重要な言葉であると わたくしにはそのように思えたのです。
The words “The Money of Soul and Possibility” that appear on the logo were something that was written up on the original document of the proposal of the series. The logo was not planned out with the objective of displaying those words, and they were simply added on latter during the making process. Therefore, there is no particular meaning to them. Well ,there isn’t, but it’s true that I felt a certain radiance, or a certain scent, an attraction to these words . Though the nuances of the words are beyond me, the feeling and intention of the project [C], a “soul” of sorts (the word soul itself is one of them) are revealed by those words, and so they are an important part of [C]. Or so I believe.

こんばんは。いまあなたがご覧になっている文章は、連続TVアニメーションシリーズ「C」のエンディング映像に挿入されたQRコードからスキャンされたものです。当然のことではありますが、しかしはじめに光学現象としてあなたの網膜に映っていたものは 白色の背景に黒いドットがちりばめられている一定サイズの紋様だったはずです。これをある一定の法則に従って走査（スキャン）することではじめて人間に解読可能な「文字」という形式が立ち現れてきたわけです。みなさんは、だから本質的には「一定サイズの紋様」を目視していただけであり、文字を読んでいたわけでは決してありません。この作文は、視覚で認知できる最初の形態としては単なる図形だったのです。
Good evening. The message you are currently reading was scanned from QR codes included in the ending images of the serial TV animation [C]. Obviously, what was originally reflecting on your pupils was a standard-sized logo composed of black dots over a white background. It’s only through scanning in accordance to a specific set of rules that it was converted into the form of “letters” that can be decoded by a human being. To sum it up, at the beginning you were all simply looking at a standard-sized logo, and definitely not reading anything. The original format as indentified by your vision was nothing more than an image.

What`s initially just an image, after going through a certain process (QR code reading), gains meaning and becomes text. Ah! What a wonderful phenomenon! This type of roundabout, almost code-like form of communication always makes us excited. Although the meaning is a bit different, it`s similar to “reading between the lines” in a novel. Something that is not really written there in fact exists. In that sense I feel it’s correct to call it code. There are a lot of codes in this world. And of course, in the drama called “C” as well. Let’s try to pay attention not only to the easy to see expressions, but also to the screams of the producers hidden in the corners. Let’s decode the world. The feeling of wanting to exchange and understand each other’s feelings: That’s what makes a work truly rich.

What you are currently looking at is a small article embedded into QR codes attached to the images in the ending of the serial animation [C].Writing is the second most abstract form of expression. In other words, if I want to explain money, the first thing you need to write is “money” (well, you don’t have to; if you have a better way to do it, that is). Its color and form; whether it’s beautiful or ugly; if it is inside or outdoors; if it exists now, or in the past, or even in the future; who owns it; where it comes from; whether it’s yen or dollars. You must write all this peripheral information as detailed as possible.

In other words “expressing in writing” is recklessly attempting to convert what your eyes see into a form that at first sight is nothing more than a line of letters. In poetry and even novels, trying to depict money in full detail is extremely difficult. You can’t simply write “money”. In attempting to explain concrete things, “writing” is simply too vague (on the other hand it’s adept at explaining abstract concepts). There is an abyss between the writer and the reader, and that is what is so romantic about it. Romance is important. Anyway, I said “writing” is the second most abstract form of expression. （前回のつづき）表現形式のなかでもっとも抽象的な形態、それは音楽だとわたくしは考えております。たとえば音楽という手段でもって「お金」を表現したいときはどうすると良いでしょう。歌詞に「お金」と書けばそれで済むような気もしますが、しかしそれでは前回話題にした「文章による表現」にしか過ぎません。メロディや流れ、低音部の配置や構成といった真に音楽的な要素だけでお金を表現しようとするとき、そこにはもの凄い度合いの抽象化が生まれざるを得ません。視覚で認識しているものを聴覚へ置き換えているわけですからこれは当然です。人間の視覚では認識できない「音」という形態へ変換するという意味で、音楽表現には「抽象化の王さま」の称号を与えたいとわたくしは考えているのです。
(continuation from last week) As to the most abstract form of expression, I believe it`s music. For instance if you were to try to represent “money” through music, how could you do it? You might think you could just write “money” on the lyrics and that would be the end of it, but with that you are just back to the “expressing money with writing” problem from last week. If you attempt to express money with only truly musical elements such as the flow of the melody or the distribution and composition of the bass register, it will inevitably require a huge degree of abstraction. As you are attempting to convert a visual perception into an auditory one, that’s only to be expected. Since musical expression is about converting something to sound, something that the human vision cannot perceive, I’d like to give it the title of “King of All Abstractions”.

そして3番目に抽象的なのが映像表現です（いや映像はもはや抽象ではないかもしれませんが）。「お金」というものを表現したいとき、実写映像ですと肉眼で見えているお金そのものにカメラを向けてみるのが手っ取り早いでしょう（これは実写映像の強みであり、同時に弱点でもあります）。いまあなたがご覧になっている連続TVドラマ「C」では、しかし人間の手で描かれた静止画を連続させるアニメーション映像という手段をとっています。実際のお金を表現するにもそれを手で描く必要があるのです。そこには同じ映像表現でも実写映像とはまた異質な、特別な変換方法が用いられているように感じます。実写ではそこに「ある」ものを撮影すれば宜しいですが、アニメーションではその世界の文字通り「すべて」を塵ひとつまで想像・創造する必要があるのです。アニメーション映像という表現形式は、だから2.5番目に抽象的な表現だといえましょう。その観客であるわたしたちにとって、この他とは異質な、そして極めて希有で洗練された抽象化表現を細部まで味わうことは、もはや礼儀とすら言えるのではないかと そう思うのです。
On that matter, the 3rd most abstract form of expression is images (you can’t even call it abstract anymore). If you want to express “money”, with live-action images, the fastest way is to just direct a camera at the same money the human eye can see (this is the live-action image’s strongest point, and also its greatest weakness). However, the serial TV drama you are currently watching, called [C], is instead made by the method of putting in quick succession several hand-drawn still images, called animation. To express money in that form it’s necessary to draw it by hand. Though they are both images, unlike live-action, this requires a special form of conversion. With live-action, you can simply film what is already there, but with animation it is necessary to imagine and create literally all the world down to last detail. That’s why I believe animation to be the 2.5th most abstract form of expression. So to us sitting in the spectator seat, savoring every detail of this unique, rare and refined abstract expression is nothing but good manners.

こんばんは。公麿くんは勇気を持って進んでいるようですが、あなたはいかがですか。もし いまあなたが未来を恐れ一歩を踏み出せないでいるとしたら、それは勇気を奮い立たせるべき時が来たということです。あなたの勇気を伴った行動はすぐには理解されずとも必ず誰かが見ていてくれています。必ず、です。たとえそれが失敗するのだとしても、盛大におもいきり失敗すべきです。いつだって前のめりで倒れ込みそうになるぐらい懸命に立ち向かってください。少なくとも公麿くんはそうだったはずです。なによりこの「C」というドラマ自体がそういう姿勢だったはずです。転倒することを恐れてやんわり それとなく歩くよりも、なにものをも恐れない勢いで転倒し 力の限り吹っ飛んでいってください。吹っ飛んだあなたが描く その宙空の弧は、じつに美しいものだからです。
Good evening. Kimimaro is gathering up his courage and moving forward but, what about you? If right now you are afraid of the future and cannot take a step forward, that means the time has come to screw up your courage. Even if the actions that will come with that bravery are not recognized, someone will be always looking upon you. No doubt. Even if that should end in failure, you must make it a grand, resolute failure. I’d like you to face forward with such intent that you almost feel as if you might pitch forward at any moment. That’s what Kimimaro did. And more importantly, that is the stance that the drama called [C] was meant to represent. Instead of fearing the fall and walking half-heartedly, to trip forward with fearless vigor, and be sent flying with all of your might. The arc you draw as you cruise through space is truly a beautiful thing.

いわゆる「うまく」やることや、技術などというものに価値は全くありません。人生における すべてにして唯一の価値・正義は、あなたが一生懸命に立ち向かったかどうか という一点にしか存在していません。まわりの友人や したり顔の大人たちがあなたに忠告をするでしょう。しかしそれらはすべて視界の外に置くべきなのです。はじめから失敗しないよう「うまくいく」必要は、塵のひとつぶほどもありません。いまあなたにできる、いや あなたがすべき ただひとつのことは、下を見ず無心で、軽やかな一歩を 大きく堂々と踏み出すことです。周囲の声をかき消し、直感に従う勇気を持つことだけなのです。社会的な栄誉や金銭的な価値で物事を計ることはできますが、懸命であったかどうか 自分自身を欺くことは決してできません。結果とは、あとからついてくるだけの 幼稚で臆病な価値観に過ぎません。
Doing things “well” so to speak, or the so called skill; those are things that hold no real value. In life, the only true value, the only true righteousness is exclusively in whether you went at it with all of your spirit. Your friends or the self-entitled adults around you may try to give you warnings; you mustn’t let it muddle your sight. There is not the slightest need to get it right from the beginning. All you have to do now is to not look down and innocently take a large and firm step forward. To ignore the voices around you and have the courage to obey your instincts. You can measure the value of things through money or glory, but you cannot fool yourself when it comes to going all out. Or in the end, all you’ll have are the immature and cowardly values of following behind others.

当欄ではこれまで、QRコードに埋め込む形で各話に2つずつ短い作文を掲載してきました。通常であれば、 この作文のような いわゆる宣伝・広告でもなく、また本編の内容を補填する設定説明でもないような文章 が エンディング中とはいえ映像内に掲載されるようなことは許容されない（はずな）のです。どこを切り 取っても宣伝・広告（それ自体が存在意義の大きなひとつですから）で成り立っているテレビ放送という メディアにおいて、いまあなたがご覧になっている当欄は、だからじつに じつに じ・つ・に！ 希有な 例であると言わざるを得ません。実際、街へ出れば あらゆる場所で広告・宣伝が目に飛び込んでくるはずです。 一切の隙はありません。完全なる広告宣伝包囲網です。犬も歩けば広告に当たります。なんとかして我々に カネを使わせようとしています（が、資本主義社会においてこれは正義なのです。資本主義は人間の美しさを 保証してはいません）。そのような現状であるところの日本国内TV放送において 宣伝意図が皆無である当欄は、 繰り返しちゃいますがだから大変希有な欄なわけです。 天然記念欄です。絶滅危惧欄です。有り難いにもほどがあります。
So far on this section, by embedding them on QR codes, I have been inserting 2 small pieces of text. Normally, texts like these that are not advertisements/propaganda and not supplemental material to explain the setting of the show would not (should not) be allowed.
